Education Through Play
Mindfulness enhances learning, creativity and social skills
Back to School!
We’re back to school and already getting into the swing of a new year! However, this time can also be stressful for children, and that stress can lead to anxiety and upset.
It’s important to start the year off on the right foot and help your child settle in as smoothly as possible. A calm, confident transition gives your child a comfortable start to school life and learning. Establishing a strong routine before term begins and continuing it throughout makes a big difference. This includes having a consistent sleep schedule, downtime to relax and enjoy their interests, and structured time for things like homework. With these habits in place, children are more likely to feel organised and less overwhelmed.
If your child begins to feel anxious or worried, talk to them. Ask them every day and support them through whatever emotions they’re feeling. Let them know it’s okay to feel nervous, and remind them that you’re there no matter what. Help them shift their focus by encouraging them to reflect on the positives from their day, as this can ease anxious thinking and reduce negativity.
Some children find it hard to express their feelings with words. Give them space to think and feel. Time outside in nature whether this be at the park, on a walk, or simply playing, can help children relax, unwind, and manage stress in a healthy way. Places like playgrounds, offer a child space where they can let their imaginations run free, and you may find that your child is more open to talking about their worries when they’re in a playful, pressure-free environment.
At the heart of what we do is the belief that children need space to think, breathe, and just be kids. Our products are designed to encourage children to learn, explore, imagine, and create freely. They can also be helpful tools for parents and carers, offering children a sense of comfort and a safe space to open up about their feelings.
At Fahr, we’ll never forget the importance of education, but we also believe that the power of play is just as vital. Play isn’t the opposite of learning, it’s a key part of it.
