Building Independence
Supporting our children is natural, but give them space to spread their wings.
Changing Seasons
Play is important all year round, so even as the seasons change, it's essential to encourage children to step outside as much as possible. Being outdoors supports children's social development and is fantastic for their mental and physical wellbeing.
As we move through September into October, temperatures begin to drop and daylight hours start to shorten, which then continues throughout November and December. While it's tempting to stay indoors where it’s warm, it’s still important to reduce screen time and encourage outdoor play during these cooler months.
The benefits are undeniable. Even on cloudy days, children are still exposed to Vitamin D, which helps support a positive mood. Plus, autumn and winter months give us some of the best, natural sensory experiences, which children absolutely love. Autumn brings crunchy leaves underfoot, warm orange tones in the trees and pumpkins, and of course, the spooky fun of Halloween where imaginations can run wilder... or should we say scarier! We all enjoy a sweet treat, but kids especially love a trick or two.
Then comes winter, with its frosty mornings, glittering icicles, and, if we’re lucky, snow! Snowball fights, snow angels, and building snowmen are all classic winter activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and help develop both fine and gross motor skills.
Of course, as the weather changes, safety becomes even more important. With fewer daylight hours and potentially slippery surfaces, it's crucial to help children play safely while still having just as much fun.
All of our products are designed with year-round play in mind. They're made to be durable, sustainable, and long-lasting, ready to face every season. So when the cooler months roll in, grab your hat, scarf, coat, and wellies, and let the outdoor adventures continue!
