Timber
framed and LumbeRock options for Fahr panels now available
Fahr have
introduced two new materials for constructing their panels
due to a shift towards a more natural looking product (which
may prove to be a short sighted idea) but more importantly
to allow their customers to create a different look for
their products.
Timber framed
panels - are combining FSC joinery softwood frames with
100% post consumer recycled HDPE game/graphic inserts

LumbeRock
panels - use the highly successful recycled plastic
LumbeRock material with the wood grain pattern to give you a
more natural looking product with all the benefits that HDPE
offers

Playbuilder funding may be over already - is this the time for XD?
There are rumors
circling the UK play industry that the supposedly ring
fenced money for the final year of the Play Builder funding
may be removed by the new government, if it hasn't already.
Hardly surprising considering the state of the UK's economy,
but what this means for the UK play industry is significant
as many companies have had a mini boom in the last year or
so and have expanded considerably on the back of this.
Sooner rather than later it my be necessary to batten down
the hatches and rein in some of that expansion as it is
going to get very competitive out there especially
considering the influx of new companies entering the play
market due to this false boom.
One way that
companies can maintain their competitiveness in the market
is to stand out, be different and to keep the cost of their
products down as much as possible.
more information on how you can save up to 23% off the cost
of your panels and stand out at the same time

Fahr
Industries has moved
To keep up with
the ever increasing range of products, materials and
services that Fahr Industries offer, they have decided to
move into an all-in-one factory unit a few hundred meters up
the road from their previous factory of 5 years. This
factory should allow Fahr to expand further in the future
and where their original set-up included a number of
individual units now everything will be together under one
roof.
Russell Funnell (MD) said: this will be our 3rd move
in less than 10 years, but we are really happy to have found
a factory that will allow us to expand confidently in the
future.

Fahr now
manufacturing outdoor furniture
Fahr Industries has decided to
apply their expertise in design, manufacture and their know
how of plastics into the production of high quality outdoor
furniture products for the leisure industry.
Fahr outdoor furniture products
will feature either 100% recycled materials, composites
containing high levels of recycled materials, materials
which are fully recyclable or a combination of these
materials. Their range is relatively modest at the moment,
but remember what Fahr did with the design and manufacture
of play panels and products for the play industry, so I
guess it would be a good idea to watch this space.

NEW SHOWROOM NOW OPEN
Fahr are
proud to announce that their new showroom is now open for
business. The principal reason for the showroom is to allow
customers to come visit the factory and to see, touch and
even play with some of their latest products and
developments. Sometimes it is difficult to appreciate how a
product really works from images and descriptions, but with
the new showroom not only is it possible to get a better
understanding to what the capabilities of Fahr actually are,
but also it is a great way to see the majority of their most
exciting products all in one place.
If you would like to visit the new Fahr Showroom, please

Fahr Managing Director, Russell Funnell is to concentrate
100% on Fahr
There were
shockwaves through the playground industry this week (March
2009), when
the news became public that Russell and his wife Katrina had
sold their other business Fawns Recreational Services Ltd to
the UK's biggest playground company Wicksteed Leisure Ltd.
Now that Russell and Katrina are no longer part of Fawns it
means that they can both concentrate 100% on the development
of Fahr Industries in the future.
Russell Funnell (MD) said: we are obviously
delighted with the way things have worked out, we know Fawns
is in good hands and will go from strength to strength and
now we can give our full attention into the development of
Fahr.
We would
like to take this opportunity to wish all the staff at Fawns
every success for the future.

Next generation of climbing and traverse walls from Fahr
with Extreme Plant-Ons
Fahr has designed
complete new ranges of climbing walls and traverse walls,
some of which include the new Extreme Plant-On. it's a
simple idea with many advantages over straight forward cut
outs used for footholds and handholds.
Firstly, there is
the obvious option to add further colour to your panels
increasing the design possibilities. Secondly the addition
of the plant-ons increase the depth of the panels and gives
them a high quality look and feel, and finally Fahr can
position the plant-ons to aid in gripping the panel.

Fahr adds the first audio and video files to it's website
With the ever
growing complexity of the panels and components that are
being designed and created by Fahr Industries, they have
decided that a simple image file is not necessarily enough
to portray what some of their panels actually do.
Starting with
audio files for the fabulous new
Freenotes from
Fahr Musical Panels and both audio and the video files
for the Make it
Rain Panel, the intention is to have audio and video
files for many of their more advanced panels added over the
coming months.

Fahr teams up with Freenotes to create arguably the best
musical instrument panels on the market today
As a forward
thinking company, Fahr spotted the potential to add smaller
versions of the Freenotes musical instruments to their
panels in May 2008, they subsequently signed an agreement to
be the exclusive manufacturer of this type of panel using
Freenotes components. These smaller versions of the
Freenotes musical instruments deliver the same high quality
sounds of their full size counterparts, but are combined
with high quality and well designed HDPE panel designs that
you have come to expect from Fahr Industries.
Russell Funnell (MD) said: we have worked long and
hard to create panels that would not only look good, but
sound good. We originally planned to launch our new musical
panels early in 2009, but we have already received many
requests for musical panels, so we decided to bring the
launch forward.

Russell Funnell (MD) said: we are really excited

New CAD designer Andy joins the Fahr
design team
Award winning CAD Designer, Andrew Webb from Salisbury has
recently joined the design team at Fahr Industries. Andy has
20 years experience in engineering and 10 years experience
with CAD Design, all gained from working throughout Europe,
we are sure that Andrew will play a large part in helping
Fahr Industries maintain its position as market leaders in
the design and production of playground panels. Along with
designing fresh new panel concepts, Andy is also be
available to help and support our customers with their own
designs.
Andy's Comments: Having come from a background of
mechanical engineering, being given a new opportunity to
start a new refreshing chapter, designing equipment for the
play and leisure industry is something that is both really
appealing and rewarding. Fahr Industries has given me an
exciting chance to both nurture and transpose artistic and
creative ideas from the drawing board and out into the
public domain. |

More storage and production space
acquired
for further Capacity
As a result of the high demand for our springers and the new
Active Panels range, both of which require a high level of
components and assembly, we have decided to increase our
storage and production space to enable us to meet both the
current and future demands. By acquiring this additional
2000sq/ft of factory space next to our existing factory
units, we can now hold more raw material, components ready
for assembly and completed assemblies in stock and the
additional space for assembly, so as always we can continue
to offer all our customers the very quick order to dispatch
lead time that they expect from Fahr. |

Down on
the Farm Springers, bounce into Europe
The
whimsical and fun springers from the
Down on Farm Spring Playtime
range have been popular with our UK play customer’s right
from their launch in 2006, not surprisingly in the last few
months they have also become a big hit in Europe with
customers from Belgium, Spain and Greece ordering many of
the models. High on the agenda and important to our
customers in Europe is the high quality finish and the
durability of our Spring Playtime
products. There are less expensive springers available in
Europe, but these alternatives are typically cheaper designs
in every aspect and are no comparison to the quality of the
Fahr products, add to this the fact that all our
Down on the Farm Spring Playtime products are
TUV tested, you can see why they are so hard to resist |
